Hold Fast the Good Fight of Faith
Hold Fast
Today in fasting, we fast to loosen the bands of sin, afflictions, sickness, and all wickedness. We fast to set us and others free from our heavy burdens. We fast to break the yoke of bondage in our lives. We fast for spiritual growth. However, we have removed the most important fast from our lives. We must stand fast in our faith! Today, most Christians do not have the faith to stand fast and true to God’s word. It is easier to say that the works were for the Apostles and not for us today. Do we have faith in Christ’s word or not?
The scripture states that, “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. We are to stand fast in faith in all scripture. The word is to be applied to our lives every day.
In Matthew 9:14-15; “Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.”
In the days of Christ, they knew him, for he was with them, so they believed. It is easy to stand in faith when you are in the presence of God. For today, when we receive Christ in our lives we stand in faith with him. When we struggle and suffer and are tried by fire, we waver in our faith. We seek out worldly churches for comfort. We get bogged down with false doctrines and replace being spirit filled with religion, that Nicolaitan doctrine which God hates. Then we lose our salvation and no longer witness the spirit of God. We must return unto our first love, and repent.
We must hold fast the good fight of faith!
Here are a few more scriptures to ponder:
1 Corinthians 16:13 “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”
Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.”
1 Thessalonians 3:8 “For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.”
Hebrews 3:6, 4:14, 10:23 “But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.” “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)
Revelations 2:25, 3:3 “But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.” “Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.”
